Mo and her husband Alex throw a housewarming party to celebrate buying their first place—a cozy apartment purchased with major help from Mo’s parents, who generously gifted most of the down payment as a wedding present. The evening kicks off with great food, laughter, and good company, but takes a surprising turn when Alex’s mother, Barbara, drops a bombshell.
In the middle of the celebration, Barbara suggests that Mo and Alex should give the apartment to her daughter Katie, a single mom who’s been struggling to find stable housing. Even more shocking, Alex immediately agrees, proposing that he and Mo move in with his mother temporarily so Katie can take over the apartment.
Mo is blindsided. But before Alex and Barbara can push the idea any further, Mo’s parents step in with a reveal of their own—they had already planned ahead. Thanks to a prenuptial agreement, the apartment is in Mo’s name only, legally protected as her sole property since it was purchased with her family’s financial support.
