Huehuetoca, State of Mexico — November 20: A serious traffic accident occurred on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway near mile marker 59 in Huehuetoca, when a semi-truck failed to stop in time and slammed into several vehicles. The impact blocked all three northbound and southbound lanes, forcing a partial closure of the highway and triggering major traffic delays.
The semi was en route to Mexico City and had just passed the Jorobas intersection when it crashed into a roadside barrier and then collided with five cars and a pickup truck. Wet road conditions from earlier rainfall may have played a role in the crash, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
Emergency crews responded quickly, treating several people at the scene for minor injuries. No life-threatening injuries were reported, but paramedics advised some individuals to seek further medical evaluation at local hospitals as a precaution.
Separate Fuel Spill Incident Adds to Delays
In a separate incident on the same highway, near mile marker 95.5 in Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, a tanker trailer accident caused a significant fuel spill. Authorities closed all lanes in that area to manage the spill and ensure safety, compounding traffic delays.
Officials are reminding drivers to be especially cautious when traveling in wet weather and to stay alert for hazardous road conditions
