A tragic accident has shaken Hawaii’s North Shore as a well-known Hollywood actor, recognized for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Blue Crush, died following a suspected shark attack. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. local time near Goat Island.

The 49-year-old actor, admired for his adventurous spirit both on screen and in the surf, was honored in an emotional statement by Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “Today, we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual,” the mayor said. “His courage, generosity, and commitment to others left a lasting impression.
