A tragic mass shooting unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, June 1, at a house party in the Mountain View area near Hickory, North Carolina, leaving one person dead and eleven others injured.
According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 12:45 a.m. on Walnut Acres Drive. The violence broke out during a large pool party that drew approximately 100 guests, including teenagers and young adults.
Gunshots were fired outside the home, with bullets striking people in both the front and back yards. The chaos even spilled over into a neighbor’s yard, turning the quiet residential block into a sprawling and active crime scene.
Officials confirmed that multiple firearms were used, but no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made as of yet. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, another remains in critical condition, and several others are still being treated in local hospitals.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and other local law enforcement agencies.
