Hailey Hosford, a 27-year-old hairstylist and yoga retreat instructor, was brutally stabbed to death in the early hours of May 28 in a parking garage at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village in Sunrise, Florida. She was preparing to head home when the attack occurred around 1:30 a.m.
Surveillance footage captured the horrifying moments when 21-year-old Jackson Julian Sagesse Jr. approached Hosford’s parked Mercedes. As she tried to get back into her vehicle, he forced the door open and repeatedly stabbed her. A male friend who returned to the garage during the assault was also stabbed in the throat while trying to intervene. He survived and was able to call for help.
Emergency responders arrived to find Hosford unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m.
Police later tracked Sagesse to his nearby apartment. Investigators found two steak knives—one in his pocket and another in his car—that matched knives from his kitchen. During questioning, Sagesse confessed to the crime, reportedly telling police, “I just killed someone and walked away.”
Loved ones are mourning Hosford’s death, describing her as a bright light in the lives of those who knew her. “There’s evil, and there’s good—we lost the good,” said her close friend Aubrey Rosebrock.
A GoFundMe campaign launched in her memory has raised more than $14,500 to help her family with funeral costs.
