In a heartbreaking aviation disaster, an Air India flight crashed just 30 seconds after takeoff near Ahmedabad Airport, killing 241 people. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171, was carrying 242 passengers when it went down, slamming into a hostel for medical students. Only one person survived — a 40-year-old British citizen named Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.
The pilots, Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar, issued a desperate mayday call just moments before the crash: “Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to lift.” Sabharwal had logged more than 8,000 flight hours, while Kundar had just over 1,100.
This is the first recorded crash involving a Boeing 787. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy.
