A terrifying fire broke out Friday night at the 67-story Marina Pinnacle tower in Dubai, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. The blaze, which started around 9:30 p.m., raged for six hours before firefighters finally brought it under control.
Miraculously, all 3,820 residents from the 764 apartments were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
Prateek M., who lived on the 22nd floor with his wife and young son, described the panic: “Neighbors shouted that our tower was on fire. I grabbed my son and ran for the stairs. The smoke was so thick we had to hold onto each other just to make it down.”
He’s now staying in a hotel and hopes to return soon to check on his home and collect important documents. “We’re safe—and that’s what matters,” he said.
Another resident, Raza, wasn’t home when the fire started. He returned to find the building sealed off and immediately began helping neighbors find rides and shelter. “I’m thankful my boss gave me time off to figure things out. Now, I’m just waiting to get back inside,” he shared.
Authorities provided temporary housing and medical support for displaced residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but early reports suggest it may have started on the upper floors.
This isn’t the first fire at Marina Pinnacle; a similar incident in 2015 began with a kitchen accident on the 47th floor.
Transit around the area was disrupted as officials prioritized safety and emergency response. Alternate bus routes were provided.
