What began as a typical rainy afternoon in a park outside of Gurgaon quickly turned into a terrifying ordeal.
Four men, caught off guard by a sudden downpour, took shelter under a large tree—just trying to stay dry. But in a flash—literally—the sky lit up, followed by a thunderous boom. A lightning strike hit the tree, knocking all four men to the ground.
“I heard this huge explosion, and when I looked back, they were just lying there,” said Rakesh, a jogger who witnessed it all. “It was like the sky just cracked open.”
Panic spread as parkgoers rushed to help. Emergency services were called, and ambulances arrived within minutes. The men were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Fortunately, all four are in stable condition and expected to recover, according to doctors.
The frightening incident is a powerful reminder: when you hear thunder, get indoors. Trees might seem like safe cover, but they can actually attract lightning—and weather doesn’t always give you time to think twice.
