Every person is beautiful in their own way—and one mom is on a mission to prove it.
Nicole Lucas Hallson is the proud mother of two young children, Asher and Winry. But what sets her apart is her passionate advocacy for embracing differences, inspired by her daughter Winry, who was born with a rare birthmark known as congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN). The large, dark mark covers about a quarter of Winry’s face.
At first, Nicole was shocked. She assumed the mark was a bruise, but doctors soon explained it was a rare skin condition. While the diagnosis was unexpected, Nicole quickly embraced her daughter’s uniqueness and made it her mission to help others see the beauty in what makes us different.
Because CMN can slightly increase the risk of skin cancer, Nicole and her family take extra precautions, including daily sunscreen and regular checkups. But their focus isn’t on fear—it’s on education and empowerment.
Nicole now uses social media to share Winry’s journey, aiming to raise awareness and promote kindness and inclusion. Her message is simple but powerful: kids with visible differences deserve love, acceptance, and the confidence to be themselves.
Today, Winry is a bubbly, joyful baby who brings smiles wherever she goes. Nicole wants people to see her daughter for the bright spirit she is—and to realize that beauty comes in all shapes, shades, and stories.
Through her family’s story, Nicole hopes to inspire others to celebrate what makes them unique and help create a world where every child grows up knowing they are seen, valued, and beautiful—just as they are.
