Rescuers at the Heart of the Forest animal center were stumped when they found a tiny black-furred creature that didn’t look like anything they’d seen before. Social media lit up with guesses—kitten, squirrel, puppy, even a mini alien.
The truth? It was a newborn domestic rabbit, just a few days old, with minor wounds—and an unusual hero. A dog had found the baby and gently carried her to safety.
Domestic rabbits are rarely found in the wild, and this one had no known owner nearby. Unlike wild rabbits, which are born with fur and open eyes, domestic ones arrive blind and hairless—making her survival even more miraculous.
No one knows how she ended up alone, but thanks to a compassionate pup and fast-acting rescuers, she’s now safe and well cared for.
