On July 28, 2025, a devastating boating accident in Biscayne Bay, Florida, took the lives of two girls—13-year-old Erin Victoria Ko Han from Chile and 7-year-old Mila Yankelevich, granddaughter of Argentine producer Cris Morena.
A 60-foot barge collided with a 17-foot sailboat carrying five children and a young instructor during a summer sailing camp. Erin and Mila drowned, while two other children remain in critical condition.
Erin’s heartbroken father recalled her final words: “See you later, Daddy and Mommy.” She was their only child, known for her bright spirit, athleticism, and multilingual talents.
The tragedy has sparked outrage and grief. A video of Mr. Ko’s emotional plea for justice has gone viral, as both families mourn and seek answers.
The Chilean Consulate and Erin’s former school in Santiago have offered condolences, and Mila’s family shared a moving tribute video in her memory.
“Our lives are forever changed,” said the Ko family, asking for privacy during this unimaginable time.
