The world says goodbye to Jonathan “Johnny” Reynolds, the beloved musician and philanthropist who passed away peacefully at 78, surrounded by family.
Born in Memphis in 1945, Reynolds spent more than six decades creating a unique sound that blended rock, jazz, blues, and folk. His 1960s debut, Soulful Strings, brought him international fame.
Beyond his music, Reynolds was known for his generosity. He founded the Harmony Foundation to bring music education to underprivileged children, earning Humanitarian of the Year in 1994. Fellow musicians remember him as inspiring—guitarist Sarah Collins said, “Johnny taught me that music was about telling stories and touching lives.”
His songs continue to inspire, reflecting his belief that music “speaks to the soul and transcends barriers.” Johnny Reynolds will be remembered not just as a legendary musician, but as a man who used his gift to make the world better.
