Born in Florida with a rare facial birthmark, Luna Tavares-Fenner has faced more challenges than most children her age. While her parents, Carolina and Thiago, always saw her uniqueness as beautiful, strangers were not always kind—one even cruelly called her a “monster.”
Refusing to let negativity define her, the family sought treatment abroad in 2019. With the help of donors and surgeon Dr. Pavel Popov, Luna bravely underwent over a dozen surgeries, often bringing her dolls so they could be “treated” too.
Now six, Luna still bears scars, but her joy and spirit shine through. With only two procedures left, her parents remain committed to giving her the healthiest, happiest life possible.
Her story is a powerful reminder that beauty lives in resilience, love, and the courage to embrace what makes us different.
