Brian Wilson, the musical genius who co-founded the iconic American band The Beach Boys, has passed away at the age of 82, his family announced.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official Instagram account, his family wrote:
“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy as we grieve. We know we’re not alone in this — the world is mourning with us.”
The statement ended simply: “Love & Mercy.”
Wilson, born on June 20, 1942, in Inglewood, California, was more than just a musician — he was a groundbreaking songwriter, singer, and producer who helped define the sound of the 1960s. As the oldest of three brothers, Brian formed The Beach Boys in 1961 with his siblings Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Together, they created timeless classics like Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, and Wouldn’t It Be Nice.
His influence on American pop music is immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations.
