Australian actor Simon Baker turned heads as he walked the red carpet at the “Mother of All Black & White Balls,” a glamorous charity event hosted in Sydney and inspired by Truman Capote’s legendary 1966 Black and White Ball.

During a red carpet interview with reporter Brandon Voight, Baker shared what drew him to the event: “We were invited by our lovely friends Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown, and we’re always happy to support a good cause.”

The event, organized by YWCA NSW, is one of Sydney’s most anticipated social affairs. Held on May 30, 2015, at the historic Sydney Town Hall, the gala welcomed around 500 guests—including leading figures from Australia’s entertainment, business, and political scenes.

YWCA NSW, a nonprofit organization, supports women, children, and families through community programs and youth mentoring. All proceeds from the evening go directly toward these vital services.

The night featured speeches by YWCA NSW CEO Anna Bligh and New South Wales Premier Mike Baird. Actress Rachel Ward, the evening’s official patron, hosted the event.

Ward, once best known to American audiences for her role as Maggie in The Thorn Birds, continues to be a prominent figure in Australia’s social and philanthropic circles. Now 66, Ward has received attention for her natural aging—some fans expressing nostalgia for her earlier beauty, others praising her decision to age gracefully without surgery.
