Stephen Colbert will sign off from The Late Show in May 2026, wrapping up a decade at the helm and closing the show’s chapter on CBS. “It’s not just the end of our show—it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS,” he told fans on July 17.
CBS says the move is about finances, not ratings—Colbert has led late-night for nine seasons with his trademark mix of satire, warmth, and sharp interviews. He thanked his 200-person team and called CBS “great partners.”
Colbert will remain with the network producing projects like After Midnight, but his final season will mark the end of a late-night era.
