It was brutally hot yesterday when I saw a German Shepherd locked in a car, windows up, barely breathing. A note on the windshield had a phone number—when I called, the owner told me to “mind my own business.”
I didn’t. I smashed the window, pulled her out, and cooled her down until she could breathe again.
When the owner returned, furious, the police sided with me—charging him with animal abuse and fining him.
That dog is now safe, asleep at my feet. And I’d break that window again in a heartbeat.
