The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of four deputies in just six weeks, leaving families and colleagues heartbroken. Deputy Christina Kohler, 37, passed away on March 13, just days after retired Deputy Maria Vasquez, 42. Earlier, former Deputy Nguyen, 58, and retired Deputy William Bozeman also died.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez encouraged deputies to lean on one another and emphasized that seeking help is a sign of strength. HCSO is expanding wellness programs, offering counseling, peer support, and early intervention to care for officers’ mental and physical health.
The community can help by showing appreciation for first responders, speaking openly about mental health, and supporting anyone in need.
